The APHSW-C Exam

The APHSW-C examination is a 175-item, multiple-choice examination delivered via computer-based test administration at US test sites provided by the contracted test administration vendor, PSI. Candidates are allowed three (3) hours to complete the exam. The exam is offered in English only.

Scheduling an Exam

The exam is delivered two times each year during approximately month-long exam windows at PSI test sites throughout the US and its territories. Once an applicant’s examination application has been reviewed and approved, the candidate will be eligible to schedule an exam session during the next available exam window at an available date and location of his/her choosing.

Preparing for the Exam

The APHSW-C Certification Board recommends candidates review the List of Resources, Test Specifications and Clinical Practice Guidelines prior to taking the exam.

SWHPN, a separate organization, provides optional education and preparatory materials for the exam in the form of online learning opportunities.
