The Call for Abstracts for our 2023 SWHPN General Assembly is now open! The theme for this year is Navigating the Changing Landscape of Hospice and Palliative Care Social Work. Our signature annual event will be held April 23rd-25th 2023 in Denver, Colorado, at the Westin Westminter Hotel.

Please download the 2023 Abstract Submission Guide for complete presentation format descriptions. Abstract proposals will be accepted for the following presentation formats:

  • 30-minute Oral Presentation, including time for for Q&A.
    • This format is best suited for case studies; highlighting a specific clinical intervention and its impact; or other well-focused topics that are limited in scope. This format is best suited to one to two presenters.
  • 75-minute Symposia, including time for for Q&A.
    • This format is intended for multiple speakers in a panel or successive-presentation format (each speaking for 15-20 minutes), presenting several key topics centered around a common theme.
  • 2-hour Pre-Conference Workshop
    • Returning this year, this format is well-suited for a “deep-dive” exploration of a broad topic to be presented in more detail than can be covered in a 30-minute oral presentation. This format is best suited for multiple presenters, and must demonstrate ability to keep learners engaged during the session.
  • Poster Presentation
    • Intended to visually highlight research and/or clinical interventions, including outcomes and impact on the field of hospice and palliative care social work.
  • 60-minute Virtual Presentation
    • Not quite ready to travel and present in person? Have a great idea for a live or recorded webinar? Share it here, and we’ll be in touch to figure out the best way to share it with SWHPN members.

Detailed information on how to complete the online submission form is available in the Abstract Submission Guide.

Presenters will be notified by the end of November 1) whether their presentation was accepted, and 2) for which presentation format. All presenters who accept the offer to present are required to register for the conference but will be provided a discount. Further details will be sent to those whose abstracts are accepted. The SWHPN Conference Committee and SWHPN Board reserve the right to ask presenters to modify their presentation format or length, based on a variety of factors to determine the best overall conference schedule.

Submissions are being accepted from Wednesday, September 7, 2022 through Friday, October 21, 2022. Please read the 2023 Abstract Submission Guidelines before you submit an abstract.
