Iris Cohen is a clinical social worker on the Palliative Care Consultation Service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts.  Ms. Cohen began her career in clinical oncology social work at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and continued her work at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California, where she specialized in working with adult patients and families involved in bone marrow and stem cell transplantation.   

Ms. Cohen has her master’s in social work (MSW) degree from New York University and a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University. She is currently completing her doctoral degree at Boston University in the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Social Work and Sociology.  Ms. Cohen has had the pleasure of teaching on the undergraduate and graduate levels in university programs of social work, sociology, and medicine.  In addition, she has delivered numerous conference presentation and invited lectures and has co-authored several publications.  In 2000, Ms. Cohen was chosen as the International Scholar for the Melbourne/Boston Social Work Exchange and was sponsored to spend a month studying palliative care services and bone marrow transplant services in Melbourne, Australia.
