The 6th edition of the SWHPN Voice is now online

Posted By Natalie Kovacic, Monday, May 15, 2017

SWHPN is once again pleased to bring you the next edition of our e-newsletter, The SWHPN Voice. Edited by Board Member John Cagle, the newsletter is designed to provide specific and current curated news on literature, education, research, policy, and practices in social work and psychosocial palliative care.

From Our Chair: "Efforts are underway to support the development of the Social Work Credential in Hospice and Palliative Care under the leadership of Dr. Barbara Head. Webinars and ongoing educational opportunities are also in preparation. Behind the scenes, we are working to update the website, and to improve the membership experience.

We are immensely grateful to all who participated in the preparation of the 5th annual assembly meeting in Phoenix, Arizona in February. Evaluations were overwhelmingly positive and instructive, as we begin preparing for the 6th Annual Assembly, to be held in Boston, MA on March 11-13, 2018."

Healthcare: Where Do We Stand?: In this Policy Update, we provide a summarized look at a few policies proposed to replace the Affordable Care Act. Read more.

How Do You Deal with a Live Discharge From Hospice Care?: In this Practice Update,  Stephanie P. Wladkowski, PhD, LMSW, ACHP-SW explores the conflicting emotions, as well as practical strategies, for patients, caregivers, and social workers who are dealing with a live discharge from hospice. Read more

The SWHPN Voice includes additional research, policy updates, news, educational opportunities, and more.
