SWHPN Conference at AAHPM/HPNA

The Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association once again opened their doors to SWHPN. This year’s preconference to the AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly was entitled, “Palliative Care Social Work: Emerging Roles and Leadership” and was held at the Austin Convention Center on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Panels included:

  • Family Conferencing Skills
  • Promoting Ethical Practices
  • Improving Our Outcomes Through Evidence-Based Practice
  • Social Work Leadership in Action

Dr. Edwardo Burerra from MD Anderson, particiated in a panel and commented to board members afterward, “Social workers do tremendous work in palliative care. Your voice needs to be heard and your contribution more recognized.”
